Into the Trenches

About

MacMac, here. This blog is a companion piece to Visual Crack. It will focus on gaming, my thoughts on gaming, more in-depth looks at my favorite games, and gaming news. Dee and I each have our own passions and gaming (particularly on the PS3) is mine. Most of the games I talk about will be PS3 related, though there will be computer games thrown into the mix. I may even talk about an XBox 360 game I want when I’m finally able to buy an XBox 360 and justify the price.

I’ve been gaming for about 20 years. The first console I can remember playing was an Atari, probably the 2600. The Amiga my dad owned was my first foray into computer gaming. Eventually we got an original NES system that it’s pretty safe to say my siblings and I ran into the ground. That was followed up by a Sega Genesis, which I’m sad to say disappeared sometime after I moved out of my family’s house. I was going to ask for it. Anyway, a cousin of mine had an original Playstation (the boxy gray thing you had to sometimes turn upside down to get it to read the disc) and after playing the game D I was in love.

My family had a x286 that I played my first FPS on. That FPS: Castle Wolfenstein. Good stuff. We moved on to a faster computer and soon I was playing the very awesome Mechwarrior series (which I’m still lamenting the demise of). When I finally moved out on my own the Playstation 2 was just making an appearance. About a year later I found myself in possession of one of those beautiful black boxes and a copy of Silent Hill 2. Ever since then I’ve been an obsessive console gamer. I’m a big fan of the Warcrack (World of Warcraft if you’ve been living under a rock) and Eve: The Second Genesis, but from the Atari 2600 to the PS3 and beyond, console gaming will always be my first love.
